Sometimes the hardest thing is picking up the phone and making an appointment. Feel free to text or email me and I will contact you by whatever means you are most comfortable. Taking that first step is part of your journey to freedom.
Sometimes, anxiety and depression seem to define us. It doesn’t have to be this way. I can offer effective and fast relief from the debilitating effects of these emotional challenges and help you gain your life back.
A few years ago, I lived with unmanageable levels of stress and fell into burnout. It was the most difficult time of my life, but it gave me insight into how we can manage my emotional and mental energy sustainably, and how to navigate through the dark and seemingly hopeless period of burnout. Burnout can become a great teacher, when it is understood and processed.
Babette Rothschild’s landmark book “The Body Remembers” expresses the debilitating and enduring nature of grief, how it shows up in our bodies and tells us that what happened then is happening right now. What if all that could change? What if your experiences of life could be different? There are creative ways of processing trauma that eventually neutralises its effects on our lives. I have seen clients experience great relief from exhaustion and dread and other effects of trauma in as few as three sessions.
We don’t ever get over grief, we learn to make room for it in our lives. The thing is, it’s not something we should ever do alone. Grief is actually all about love, whether it’s dirty pain (stuff that should never have happened) or clean pain (good stuff or wonderful people that are no longer in our lives). I provide a safe environment for your grief to be known, held, and gently integrated into your life as a teacher of wisdom and finding creative ways to let go.
Swiss therapist Carl Jung understood that we have a Self, a true self, that is not immediately accessible to our awareness, and that we spend most of our lives living out of a constructed, false self that continually sabotages our freedom. As clients discover their true self, they live with new-found self-compassion and self-regard and an understanding of how to respond to the false self’s demands without being hijacked by its inherently insecure energy.
If you have been in a toxic relationship that has ended, you can feel like you are left holding a mess that you are not responsible for. You’ve probably developed a bunch of coping strategies that are not who you are, and that don’t work but they were necessary to avoid the landmines that might explode when you in that relationship. Counselling can be vital in deconstructing what you had to build to stay safe in that relationship, and move on without the baggage of the previous relationship.
Developing Healthy Lifestyles and Habits
Bad eating habits, lack of exercise, poor sleep and insomnia, over-spending, porn addictions - all these play havoc with our lives, and are signs that we are not living the way we are meant to. If an aspect of your life feels unmanageable and more willpower is clearly not the answer, I can help you plan a vibrant, sustainable and fruitful life that is free of the clutter of poor habits and behaviours.
Life transitions, mentoring and life coaching
There are two halves of life and they need to be lived very differently, but nobody tells us. When the first half of life methods stop working, things can go quite pear-shaped, simply because we have outlived the first half of life methods. This happened to me at 50! I enjoy working with people to give them new skills and perspectives during life transitions and how to gain new insights and resilience during times of loss and change. Sometimes, we’ve just lacked a wise ear to help us make big decisions. My almost 60 years life experience and training will help you find clarity and feel assurance about the decisions you are making.
