About Me

A little something about me.

Life takes us on journeys, and mine has taken me to the place where I delight in caring for souls, helping them find their own worth, value and resources to overcome adversity and thrive. The first thing you will discover when you walk through my door is the offer of a (freshly ground) coffee (I am a coffee snob) or a tea. Hospitality is real, I don’t subscribe to sterile waiting rooms or aloof receptionists. You aren’t coming to be fixed but known.

Professional

I spent my early years in pastoral ministry, because I wanted to understand the human story and how we flourish. I found some answers there, and eventually became senior pastor of a church in suburban Brisbane. In 2009, things changed: I burned out. You can watch my story below. This was an incredibly difficult few years of confusion, depression and discovery. I completed a masters in counselling and started seeing clients in 2011. Many years and thousands of clients later, I am amazed at the courage and resilience of my clients to flourish in difficult situations as they discover the gifts within them to overcome adversity.

In 2013 I became CEO of the Centre for Men and Families, a not-for-profit charity that helps men in crisis and their partners, children and friends. Since 2020 I moved into being an Ambassador for CMF and continue in this role alongside my private practice. You can find out more about the Centre for Men and Families here (link to website).

I present “secrets from the shed” – a series of one minute spots on men’s mental and relational health on 96Five FM. I love speaking to groups and engaging communities in life-giving outcomes.
